I’ve been going off-roading in Jeeps for as long as I can remember. My father and grandfather both loved taking their Jeeps out into the wilderness, and I followed in their footsteps as soon as I could.

Over the years, I’ve learned a lot about what you need to take with you if you want to have a safe and enjoyable time off-roading. We always had a list of essentials that we would take with us on every trip. There’s nothing worse than being stranded in the middle of nowhere without the supplies you need to get back on the road.

Today, I want to share with you the same list of must-haves I’ve been using for years because honestly most of these items have helped me get out of some pretty tough situations and possibly even could have saved my life. I hope you take it to heart because I take my preparation very seriously!

Going out is not worth risking everything. But if you are prepared go have fun!

11 Must-Haves for Going Off-Roading in Your Jeep

Before you head out on your next off-roading adventure, make sure you have these 11 items packed and ready to go.

1. Off-road Recovery Kit

If you are going to go out off-roading in your Jeep, you had been have some solid straps in case you need a winch extension. Don’t get caught up prepared. This kit is an awesome value and it made from strong materials so it doesn’t break while you are far out on your trails. I’ve tried a few of these straps and there are some other straps that just fall apart. This one won’t as long as you pay attention to the capacity for each strap. Plus this set comes with a solid 11 ton snatch block to help protect your winch and two D-Shackles to easily connect to your Jeep. I’m a big fan of these set if you can’t tell.

>>Check Price on Amazon<<

2. Tire Repair Kit

This tire kit from ARB has saved my butt so many times. If you don’t have this, you have got to get this now. Don’t risk not having it!

>>Check Price on Amazon<<

No matter how careful you are, there’s a good chance you’ll end up getting a flat tire at some point, especially when driving on rough terrain. Having everything you need to fix a flat can save you from having to wait for roadside assistance or someone to drive by with the right tools for the job.

At a minimum, your tire repair kit should include a jack, a lug wrench, and a spare tire. If you have the space, you may also want to consider adding a portable air compressor, patch kits, and a can of tire sealant.

3. Set of Tools

This set of tools is a very economical set that I use almost every time I go out on the trails in some way or another. Usually it is to help someone else but I would prefer to be prepared.

>>Check Price on Amazon<<

In my opinion it is a must-have for any off-roading trip and this set is a versatile set of tools. It doesn’t have to be a massive toolbox, but you should have a few basic tools like a screwdriver, a wrench, and a hammer.

You should also take the time to learn how to use all of the tools in your set so that you’re prepared for any situation.

If you don’t already know how to use them, there are plenty of instructional videos and articles online that can teach you what you need to know.

4. Compact Shovel

If you’ve been off roading for a while, you know as well as I do that you will get stuck at some point. It happens all the time. This shovel is well priced and solid. I don’t always have to use it but I appreciate having it just in case.

>>Check Price on Amazon<<

A shovel is another versatile tool that can come in handy for a variety of different tasks while off-roading. If you or someone in your group gets stuck, you can use your shovel to dig them out.

You can also use it to clear debris from the trail. And if you’re going camping, a shovel can be used to put out fires, dig a latrine, or even clear a spot for your tent.

There are many shovels that are small in size and can easily fit in the trunk of your Jeep, so there’s no excuse not to bring one along.

5. Emergency Flashlight

Although most phones have a built-in flashlight these days, it’s still a good idea to bring a separate flashlight and keep it in your Jeep.

Not only do flashlights on phones drain their battery quickly, but they’re also not as bright as a dedicated flashlight.

Having a bright flashlight handy can help you signal for help, find your way in the dark, or scare away any wildlife that may be lurking around your campsite.

6. Jumper Cables

There are many reasons the battery on your Jeep might die while you’re off-roading. Maybe you left the lights on by mistake, or maybe your battery is just getting old. Whatever the reason, having jumper cables with you can help you get back on the road quickly.

If you’re not comfortable using jumper cables, another option is to bring a portable battery charger. This can be used to jump-start your Jeep’s battery or to charge your phone and other electronic devices.

7. DIY First Aid Kit

Accidents can happen at any time, and being prepared can mean the difference between life and death.

Your first aid kit doesn’t need to be anything fancy, but it should include basics like bandages, gauze, tape, antiseptic wipes, and pain relievers.

If you or someone in your group has a history of medical conditions, you should include a list of their medications as well as contact information for their doctor.

8. Fire Extinguisher

It’s highly unlikely that your Jeep will catch on fire on the trail, but a fire extinguisher can still come in handy. If you’re going camping, a fire extinguisher can be used to put out a campfire that gets out of control.

And if your Jeep does happen to catch on fire, a fire extinguisher can help you put it out quickly and prevent any further damage.

It doesn’t have to be a big fire extinguisher, a small, handheld fire extinguisher is all you need. Just make sure it’s easily accessible so that you can grab it quickly in an emergency.

9. Warm Blanket

A blanket can serve many purposes while off-roading. If you get cold or wet, a blanket can help you stay warm. If you or someone in your group gets injured, a blanket can be used as a makeshift stretcher.

And if you’re going camping, a blanket can be used as an extra layer of insulation for your sleeping bag. A wool blanket is a good choice because it’s warm even when wet, but any blanket is better than no blanket at all.

10. Snacks

Off-roading can be a physically demanding activity, so it’s important to make sure you’re staying fueled up with snacks and drinks. Pack some high-energy snacks like energy bars or trail mix to keep your energy levels up.

Try to avoid snacks that will melt in the heat or spoil before you have a chance to eat them. And if you’re going camping, bring along some foods that are less likely to attract wildlife to your campsite.

11. Extra Water

No matter where you’re going or how long you’ll be gone, always bring extra water. You never know when you might get stranded or have to hike out of a difficult situation. It’s better to be safe than sorry.

Although drinking-water is the most important use for water when you’re off-roading, it’s not the only one. You may also need extra water for washing your hands, cleaning up spills, or even as an emergency radiator coolant in case your Jeep overheats.

And if you’re going off-roading in an area with muddy or swampy trails, you’ll definitely need the extra water to keep your windshield clean.

Jeep Wranglers can last for a long time if maintained properly. You can expect a well-maintained Jeep to last 15 years easily. The Jeep Wrangler can cover around 280,000 miles before developing serious problems.

Few vehicles can give you the off-road driving pleasure that a Jeep Wrangler can. Driving a Jeep can feel very exciting and satisfying. For over 2 decades, the Wrangler has distinguished itself as the brand’s most popular model. Although there are a few issues with the Wrangler, some other SUVs can match its longevity both on the road and off-road.

The 5th year is usually a bad one for most vehicles since this is when serious problems often start surfacing. And these problems come at the worst possible time since this is when the warranty is about to expire. But the Jeep Wrangler can go well beyond 5 years without serious problems. A well-maintained Jeep Wrangler can last more than 400,000 miles and it can live more than 20 years.

The Jeep Wrangler is built so that it can traverse the toughest terrain. Since it is built to withstand tough conditions, the Jeep Wrangler has great longevity. As a result, you can use this versatile vehicle for off-road driving during weekends and as a daily driver to and from your workplace. The vehicle will perform well on both fronts.

Off-road enthusiasts know that the Jeep Wrangler can withstand a lot of difficult terrains and still keep going strong. Hence, the Jeep Wrangler will continue performing well and not disappoint.

Potential Jeep Wrangler Problems

As tough as it may be, the Jeep Wrangler is not invincible. Just like other vehicles, the Jeep Wrangler may age faster if you don’t maintain it well. Since these vehicles encounter a lot of water and mud during off-road driving, electrical problems may be the first sign that your Jeep Wrangler needs some maintenance.

You may have to resolve problems like AC problems, malfunctioning gauges, hard starting, and so on.

Other things to watch out for are transfer case leaks, main seal leaks, and radiator leaks. These problems will start showing up after you have taken your Wrangler through the toughest terrain. You should look into these issues before they turn into bigger problems.

Tips for Your Jeep Wrangler Longevity

One important way of slowing down the aging process for your Jeep Wrangler is to park it in a garage when it is not in use. There are other steps you can take to slow down the aging process.

Observe a tight maintenance schedule. Make sure that the oil filter and oil are changed after 5,000 miles or 6 months. The suspension will survive for a longer time if the tires are good. So make sure that the tires stay in good shape. Do not worry that with off-road driving and rough handling, the tires will wear down more quickly with off-road driving and rough handling.

To increase the lifespan of your Wrangler SUV, you should also pay attention to rust and corrosion prevention. Hence, you should wash it often and also wax the vehicle frequently. Remember to maintain the undercarriage also. Keeping the Jeep Wrangler in a shaded area like a garage can keep it safe from damaging UV rays and other elements that can age your vehicle.

Off-road enthusiasts want a vehicle that is rugged and reliable. The Jeep Wrangler is one such vehicle. This model has been made to handle tough conditions; hence, it has good longevity. The Jeep Wrangler can perform equally well on the daily commute and rugged terrain. Hence it is an attractive option for customers who want a vehicle that is dependable on the road and offroad as well.

If you give the Jeep Wrangler the care that it deserves, it can last you 280,000 miles or 15 years.

Buying a car is a major investment. If you purchase a vehicle, you expect it to last at least 9 years before substantial upgrades and repair work is required.

Buying an SUV with a long lifespan is an advantage since it will reduce your maintenance and help to get the most out of your investment. Another major benefit of owning such an automobile is that it will have a high resale price.

However, long service does not automatically mean that this SUV will last forever. Careful use and regular maintenance are essential for ensuring longevity. Few automobiles come close to the rugged nature and durability of the Jeep Wrangler.

The Jeep Wrangler is known for having a low rate of depreciation. No matter where you go, anywhere there is a Jeep Wrangler, it is almost always in good shape.

Jeep Wranglers are tough and reliable vehicles. Due to their rugged nature, they can drive easily through all sorts of difficult tracks. Since Jeep Wranglers are made to withstand tough conditions, they are long-lived vehicles.

Jeeps have been in production since the time of World War 2. Although they were made initially for warfare, that has now changed. Jeeps are now designed for off-road driving. Although the design of the Jeep Wrangler has changed, one thing has stood constant. And that is its remarkable longevity.

Can the Jeep Wrangler Last Long?

You can expect around 2 decades from the Jeep Wrangler if you give it the maintenance it deserves.

If you drive your Jeep carefully, then it should be possible to get 400,000 miles out of it. But if you are not cautious with your vehicle, it may not last as long.

Jeep Wranglers can easily exceed 250,000 miles if they are well looked after. You must be wondering what you can do to make it last that long.

Jeep Wranglers are seen as vehicles that require high maintenance. But that is not true. You just have to know what kind of regular maintenance you need to carry out for your Jeep Wrangler. The annual cost of maintenance should be around $450.

Here is what you need to do.

Oil Change

You should have the oil changed when it is driven 4000 miles. The good news is that there is an indicator that will tell you when an oil change is due for your Jeep Wrangler.

A lot depends on your driving habits. You can go between 4,000 to 7,000 miles before an oil change is in order based on how you drive.

When you change its oil, make sure that the oil filter is also changed.

This is also a good time to check out the tires. You can think of rebalancing and rotating them. This way, the wear on tires will be uniform.

When you change the wheels, it is good to check out the wheel alignment.

Brake Repairs

You should inspect the brakes regularly since they are a crucial component. But if you start hearing strange brake noises, it may be time to get it inspected.

You may have to change its brake pads after you have driven around 39,000 miles. Replace any part regularly that is subjected to wear and tear like the brake lining and the parking brake.

Battery

Batteries can last for a couple of years if they are maintained well. You can expect around 4 to 5 years out of the battery.

As a part of battery maintenance, you will have to make sure that its battery terminals are clean. Also, cables that connect to the battery should be tightly secured. So if you find any loose terminal make sure that it is tightened.

Bottom Line

We hope we have answered your question; how long do Jeep Wranglers last. They can last for around 2 decades if maintained well.

Why are Jeeps so expensive? If you think about which Jeep to buy, this question will certainly come to your mind when looking at the price.

Jeep fans would like to know why this vehicle is so costly.

Jeep happens to be one of the oldest SUV manufacturers. They build a wide selection of SUVs that are extremely capable of off-road vehicles. The Wrangler is among the most well-known models. It is available in different versions depending on what features you would like to have.

Here are all the reasons why Jeeps are so costly.

Why are Jeep Wranglers so Expensive?

Jeep Wranglers are costly because they are designed to withstand difficult off-road conditions with finesse. It can surmount the toughest obstacles on all kinds of terrains. As a result, the vehicle has a large fan following, making it expensive.

Jeep Wranglers are Good

Jeep Wranglers are good, but their price tag isn’t. In fact, Jeeps happen to be one of the most capable off-road SUVs that you can find. And they are not just popular in the US. They are highly regarded all over the world. In many parts of the world, 4-wheel drive off-road vehicles are all called “Jeeps.” Hence, the word Jeep has come to define a genre of awesome off-road SUVs.

You may be able to find used Jeeps for more reasonable prices. But if you insist on buying a new Jeep, you should be ready to hand out large sums of money. The base model costs around $32,000. Remember that this is the most basic version. For higher trims, the price tag starts soaring. The price can reach almost $50,000 if you desire the best trim.

If you take the average price for its different variants, then you will arrive at a figure of around $40,000. You will have to pay more if you want upgrades.

However, it is no coincidence that the price tag is so high. This is, after all, one of the very best if not the best off-roader on the market.

Various factors determine the price of vehicles. Material costs are the most obvious that everyone knows about. However, there are other factors at play that everyone may not know of.

Understanding the high price tag is to realize what you are getting in return for your investment.

https://youtu.be/k1Xd9AOv4i4Video can’t be loaded because JavaScript is disabled: Jeep Wrangler Pros & Cons | My Daily Driver (https://youtu.be/k1Xd9AOv4i4)

Off-Road Capabilities

People all over the world recognize the Jeep for its exceptional off-road prowess. The public knows that this is a rugged, solid, and sturdy vehicle. Whether you want to traverse hilly terrain or just plain bad roads, it is often a cinch with a Jeep. In fact, if the Jeep cannot cross a particular point, then it is most likely that no other vehicle can.

Jeep has become the ultimate symbol of off-road adventure.

Many people are fascinated by the Jeep’s stellar off-road capabilities. As a result, you have events and even festivals worldwide that feature Jeeps.

Off-road vehicles are bound to be expensive because they are designed to handle the toughest tracks. The vehicle should be sturdy and durable to go past anything that comes in its path.

Trucks and SUVs often have such off-road capabilities. But the Jeep is among the smallest vehicles that absolutely shine when it comes to off-road driving.

Features such as low gearing and 4-wheel drive equip the Jeep with the capabilities that it needs to tackle tough tracks. It also has all-terrain tires so that the Jeep can go through any ground, even with snow or rain. As a result, the Jeep has great traction, and it can conquer almost anything that comes in its way.

While these features no doubt enhance and augment the capabilities of Jeep, they also jack up the price.

Materials and Equipment

Vehicle cost depends on the materials used to make it. High-end vehicles often have higher price tags because they use higher-grade premium materials that are more expensive to buy.

For instance, if you decide to purchase a luxury sedan, in return, you will get a lavish interior that has leather upholstery. There might even be great features that are not available in cheaper models. For example, the seats could have lumbar support that will make long drives more comfortable for you and your family.

The differential, transmission, and engine all need to be high-grade if the Jeep is to conquer all. The Jeep needs a lot of features in addition to these basic requirements. For example, it needs a heavy-duty radiator so that the Jeep can handle long spells of driving on tough tracks.

Popularity

The Jeep has great demand all across the world. Wherever you find off-road enthusiasts, you won’t fail to note that they love Jeeps. The popularity is another reason besides the premium materials that makes Jeeps so expensive.

Jeep has been among the most popular and hotly demanded off-road vehicles for a long time now. Its long history of widespread use and ubiquity also bumps up the price.

The vehicle is also very versatile. If you don’t want doors and a roof, you can do that with a Jeep. You can ride outside with full freedom and excellent visibility in all directions, thanks to the open structure.

Customization

You can customize the Jeep in many different ways. You can take off the doors, the windshield, and the soft-top roof if you want an open ambiance and be in close contact with nature. There are a few other vehicles to take apart these components and put them back again.

Hence, the Jeep is great for driving on beaches and forest trails.

Insurance

You cannot leave out insurance costs when considering the cost of a vehicle.

In short, Jeeps are costly to insure because they have a high price tag, so the cost of replacement will be higher. Also, since it is so popular, it is also the favorite target of thieves.

Since it is a high-performance vehicle, it is a favorite with the young crowd that loves an adrenaline rush outdoors. This means that the customer base is risk-takers driving it through difficult and hazardous tracks. As a result, many insurers do not cover Jeeps and demand a higher insurance premium.

The Jeep is a high-performance SUV. Hence, its parts are more expensive to replace in case of an accident. Plus, they will require more expensive workmanship with the expertise for these sophisticated vehicles.

The combination of youthful exuberance and a powerful engine means that insurance costs will be higher.

Bottom Line

The Jeep Wrangler is no doubt an expensive vehicle to buy and insure. However, it is also very sturdy and long-lasting. Jeeps can easily live up to 2 decades with good maintenance. Hence, they often have high resale value as well.

The fact is that you get good value in return for your investment. You get an off-road 4-wheel drive beast that is second to none. It is not too much to say that the Jeep is a legend.

Jeep Wranglers are known to be versatile vehicles that can be driven on all kinds of terrains. Jeeps can be made in the factory using different axle combinations.

The kind of axle that your Jeep Wrangler has depends on its trim level.

Types of Jeep Axles

Since you can customize a Jeep Wrangler easily, it may not have the original axle installed in the factory. In particular, if you are buying a second-hand Jeep Wrangler, identifying the installed axles is not just a matter of looking up the manufacturer’s manual.

Dana Axles

Beginning in 1987, Jeep has used 3 types of axles made by the Dana Holding Corporation. These are known as the Dana 44, 35, and 30. There is a high likelihood that any given Jeep Wrangler will have one of these 3 models.

Dana 30

The front axle is usually the Dana 30. It serves as the front axle in most Jeep Wranglers. You can recognize this component easily because the differential cover has flat sides. The top and bottom are rounded. This axle is commonly installed towards the front in Jeep Wranglers. Hence, you can be quite sure that the axle towards the back will not be a Dana 30.

Dana 35

On the other hand, the Dana 35 serves as a rear axle in Jeep Wranglers. You can easily identify this axle version since the differential cover’s width is greater than the height.

Dana 44

The Dana 44 may be installed at the front or the back. And whether it is installed towards the front or back, the differential cover will remain the same. The cover has flat sides while the bottom and top are angular.

The Rubicon Wrangler trim level has the Dana 44 installed by default. When Jeep owners move to bigger tires and wheels, they switch to the Dana 44.

Dana 60

You should also note that Dana manufactures the 60 series axle as well. This axle is notable for its good off-road performance. Many use it for its greater strength and its ability to withstand the stress of holding bigger wheels and tires. This is a key selling feature. So those buying a used Jeep keep track of the axle that is installed.

To check if it really is a Dana 60 axle, you can see the model number stamped towards the bottom right in the center section. The center section of this axle is considerably bigger so that it can accommodate bigger gears. This will also help to accommodate much larger tires that are at least 38 inches.

Having Trouble Identifying the Axle?

If you are still having trouble identifying the axle, then there is another way you can do it. You should have a look at the axle’s Bill of Material number. This can be found axle shaft’s long tube. The number has 6 digits along with one or two digits towards the tube end. Using this number, you can go on Dana’s website to check out your axle identity.

Where stock configurations are concerned, owners of the original Jeep YJ built anywhere from 1987 to 1995 will have a Dana 35 towards the rear and a Dana 30 at the front. This is the only combination that Jeep used during these years.

When the Wrangler TJ was produced from 1998 to 2006, owners of the stock configuration will have Dana 35 in the rear and Dana 30 at the front. However, there also was a Dana 44 option for the rear axle for owners that drove a manual transmission. Starting from 2003, the Rubicon trim level came out in the TJ Wrangler that had a Dana 44 in the front and back axles. Those who own the original LJ Unlimited (from 2003 to 2006) have a Dana 44 at the back and a Dana 30 upfront.

For the JK Wrangler edition that was produced from 2007 to 2018, owners of the original version have Dana 30 axles at the front. The Rubicon trim level is the exception to this for it has the Dana 44 at the front and back. Those who have an early production model JK will find a Dana 35 axle towards the rear. However, Jeep quickly made the switch to Dana 44 for the rear axles. Owners of the 4-door JK Wrangler have the Dana 44 towards the back.

If you have just bought a new JL Wrangler, then there will be a Dana 35 on the rear axle and a Dana 30 on the front axle. However, this will not be the case if you purchased a model that was upgraded with Dana 44s. Owners of the Rubicon JL have got the Dana 44 on both the rear and front axles. However, these are different from the previous Dana 44, 35, and 30 axles. The newer axles are lighter and stronger when compared to the previous axles. Hence, you cannot change new generation axles with older generation axles.

If you own the original vehicle, and you would like to confirm what you got, then you go to Jeep’s website where you can try entering the vehicle identification number to the build specifications of your Jeep.

Which Jeep Axle is Best for You?

For most people, the Dana 30/35 configuration will work nicely with normal driving as well as light off-road driving. But if you are thinking of upgrading your Jeep, that is, you are thinking of adding extra weight, then you should upgrade the axles as well. Upgrading axles is the right thing to do especially if you will be installing wider and bigger tires.

There are no hard and fast rules that you must follow. However, most TJ and YJ owners switch the factory axles with the Dana 44 when they upgrade to tires that are 33 inches and larger. The same holds true for owners of the JK who will be installing tires in excess of 35 inches. By upgrading the axles in this way, Jeep owners can make sure that their vehicles will be able to handle bigger and wider tires with ease.

Bottom Line

Next time when you search for “what axles does my Jeep have?” You can follow the steps mentioned above to find out more.

If you are thinking about buying a Jeep, then this question may be on your mind; “Where are Jeeps made?”

Consumers in the US are concerned about the quality of those products manufactured in other places around the world. So before you buy a Jeep, it will be good to know where it is made and who really owns the brand.

Where are Jeeps Made? Short Answer

Most Jeeps are manufactured here in the US. Willys-Overland originally manufactured these vehicles for military use from a plant in Toledo, Ohio. Stellantis, a multinational group, is now the owner of the brand. Due to this, Jeep is prized not just by off-road fans but also by those who won’t buy products made in the US.

Among current Jeep models, the Gladiator, Grand Cherokee, Cherokee, and the Wrangler are assembled in America. The Gladiator and the Wrangler are manufactured in Toledo, Ohio, which is the brand’s headquarters. Cherokees are made in the Belvidere plant in Illinois. The Jeep Patriot was produced, which is no longer in production. Detroit, Michigan, is where Grand Cherokees are made. However, one thing to note is that some parts are manufactured in other countries. But by and large, these vehicles are mostly made in the USA.

But due to the increasing popularity of Jeeps, the group now operates plants in different countries across the world as well, like Mexico, India, China, Brazil, and Italy. The Compass and the Renegade are made in foreign plants. Jeep has 10 plants in the US and other parts of the world.

Key Places Where Jeep is Manufactured

When World War 2 was going on, Willys-Overland started manufacturing Jeeps as military vehicles for the US army. These vehicles were produced in Toledo, Ohio. When the war was over, the company started manufacturing civilian Jeeps called CJ Jeeps. During the following decades, ownership changed several times.

Willys-Overland first merged with a company called Kaiser Motors. They produced the well-known Kaiser Jeep, also known as the KJ Jeep. American Motors Corporation then purchased Kaiser Motors. Renault made supplementary investments in 1979. Jeep was then purchased by Daimler Chrysler, known as Fiat Chrysler Automobiles. Stellantis is now the current owner of the group. Although ownership has changed multiple times, the headquarters of the brand has always stayed in Toledo, Ohio.

The plant in Toledo was upgraded in 2006 so that the Jeep Wrangler could be manufactured. There are now 2 main units operating in Toledo, Ohio. These are the Parkway Annex and the Stickney Plant. The former is where the Willys-Overland factory was originally built.

Detroit, Michigan

Since 1993, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has been built in Detroit, Michigan, in the Jefferson North Assembly Plant. This is the only industrial unit situated inside Detroit city’s limits. Chrysler did this to support production in America.

The Jefferson North Assembly plant was first built in 1991 and upgraded in 1999. From 2006 to 2010, this plant manufactured the Jeep Commander. This plant is also where the Dodge Durango is assembled.

Melfi, Italy

Chrysler filed for bankruptcy in 2014, and it subsequently merged with Fiat, an automaker based in Italy. This gave rise to Fiat Chrysler Automobiles.

Production of the Jeep Compass was then shifted from Belvidere, Illinois, towards Melfi in Italy. After the merger was completed, Jeep also started producing the Jeep Renegade. This vehicle was made mainly in Melfi. The Compass and the Renegade are manufactured beside the Fiat 500x.

Goiana, Brazil

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles started making vehicles in the FCA Jeep Assembly Complex located in Goiana. This place is situated in the northeast of Brazil. The production facility spans 6.2 million square feet. It includes the assembly plant, stamping units, research and development centers, a 1.5-kilometer test track, and an employees’ training unit.

The Compass and the Renegade are manufactured here in Goiana for the market in South America. These vehicles are produced beside the Fiat Toro. After the Goiana production facility commenced operations, Brazil is only second to the US in Jeep Renegade and Compass sales.

Guangzhou, China

The GAC Group is a Chinese automaker based in Guangzhou, China. Fiat Chrysler entered into a joint venture with this group and started production in 2015 in China. The Guangzhou plant manufactures the Compass, Renegade, and the Cherokee.

Where are Jeep Part Made?

Domestically made models of the Jeep include the Grand Cherokee, Cherokee, Gladiator, and the Wrangler. These vehicles are present in the Top 40 list of cars.com for vehicles made in America. The list ranks vehicles based on how much is manufactured in America.

The ranking considers various factors like the US workforce, origin for transmission, engine, different parts, and assembly point.

Out of 90 cars, the Jeep Cherokee is ranked number 4, and the Jeep Wrangler is ranked number 38. Hence, Jeep is known for manufacturing its vehicles mostly in the US. The transmission and engine parts are almost exclusively manufactured in Toledo and Belvidere.

However, due to increasing international demand for Jeeps, the company manufactures the Compass and Renegade in China, India, Mexico, and Brazil.

The Jeep Renegade is a subcompact SUV which is the first Jeep vehicle that is assembled and manufactured outside the US. This vehicle is largely made in Melfi, Italy, while production is also carried out in Guangzhou, China, and Goiana in Brazil.

Jeep Wranglers – Where Are They Made Today?

American customers concerned about where Jeep Wranglers are made will be pleased to hear that Jeep Wranglers are mostly made in Toledo. Most of its components and parts are made here in the US. The Toledo plant is one of the oldest manufacturing units in the US. In 1986, Jeep Wranglers were in production at the Toledo unit. The plant has around 6,500 employees who put together the Jeep Wrangler so that adventurers can ride this off-road vehicle in style.

During World War 2, the plant manufactured only military Jeeps. But now, the assembly line at this facility produces civilian Jeeps like the JL Wrangler which is the latest version of the JK Wrangler. The jeep stopped manufacturing the JK Wrangler in 2018.

This unit also makes the Jeep Gladiator which is a pickup truck with superb off-road capabilities.

Where Were Jeeps Made Around the World?

From the 1940s, the Toledo assembly line has been rolling out all kinds of Jeep vehicles, including 4-wheel drives. While some Jeep models are manufactured largely in the US, the Compass and the Renegade are produced at other locations around the world.

Due to their popularity, various automakers have manufactured Jeeps under license. For example, Mitsubishi manufactured military versions of CJ-3B, which the Japanese police force used tarting in 1953.

A CJ-3B variant was also manufactured in India in Mahindra, which was called the Mahindra CJ. Willys Overland also made Jeeps in Izmit, Turkey.

Is Jeep Made in China or the US?

Jeeps that customers buy in the US are largely manufactured locally. To many American customers, it is paramount that the Jeep they are buying should be made in the US. The Grand Cherokee, Cherokee, Gladiator and the Wrangler are largely manufactured in the United States.

Jeep vehicles are also manufactured in China. However, they are assembled for the market in China. Customers who are outside China won’t be coming across a Chinese-manufactured Jeep.

Bottom Line

We hope now you know ‘Where is Jeep made?’ The American icon is largely manufactured right here in the US.

This Honda Pilot review shows how the Honda Pilot Black Edition specification and features compare with that of the Honda Pilot Elite. You will also know what features to expect

This Honda Pilot review shows how the Honda Pilot Black Edition specification and features compare with that of the Honda Pilot Elite. You will also know what features to expect in these two trims and their differences.

The short answer is that the two editions largely share the same features. Perhaps the most important difference is that the Black edition focuses on black.

Honda Pilot Black Edition

Honda Pilot Black Edition emphasizes black, as its name implies. The exterior boasts Crystal Black Pearl paint. The 3-row vehicle also prominently features a black grille and 20-inch wheels – in black, of course.

Headlights are also colored black together with the side trim. The fog-light accents and door handles are also jet-black. You can find Black Edition badges on the liftgate and grille. This logo is also embroidered into the front bucket seats, and they are made out of black leather that spots black stitching.

So if you really love this hue, you may want to consider the Honda Pilot Black Edition since there is plenty of it. Whether you are a fan of this color or not, you will feel that the Honda Pilot Black Edition looks vibrant and aesthetically appealing.

And it’s not just all about looks. There is plenty to admire about the Black Edition.

Although the Honda Pilot is not the most outstanding vehicle in its category, it is still up to par and pretty decent. The front end looks friendly and attractive, while the rear exudes simplicity. All in all, the design is crisp and appealing.

However, one caveat to note is that the Honda Pilot’s wheelbase is a bit small for its category.

Comfortable Cabin Space

The cabin interior is quite comfortable and spacious. There are no major issues to be found in the cabin. The only complaint is that the brake pedal feels somewhat awkward, like what you would expect in vintage vehicles.

Overall, the interior is agreeably nice. It is built quite well and has plenty of tech for your convenience. However, other automotive brands offer more tech and greater features than the Honda Pilot.

For example, the Toyota Highlander’s cabin space is more luxurious than the Pilot. The Subaru Ascent also rocks a sumptuous interior. However, brands that really offer great value for money in this department are both based in South Korea.

Thanks to high-grade material, premium design, and attractive touches, the Kia Telluride and Hyundai Palisade are class-leading vehicles.

But although the Pilot is not particularly new, it still has a much better interior compared to the Ford Interior, which has cut corners with subpar materials and disappointing design.

The Honda Pilot’s black leather seats feel comfortable, silky smooth, and agreeably soft. The plastic material installed on door panels and the dash has a nice grainy texture, and it also feels good to touch.

Cabin

The SUV offers plenty of comforts, especially the highly supportive front seats. However, second-row seats don’t match the comfort you feel on the front seats. Since the second-row seats are somewhat flatter, they are not as relaxing for long rides. The angle of the lower cushions also feels a bit awkward.

Since there is plenty of headroom available, it is well-suited for adults. However, one plus-point is the quality of the 3rd row, which is better compared to other SUVs. Most SUVs and family vehicles often compromise on the 3rd row since it is assumed that kids will occupy it. Hence, the space here is restricted, making it unsuitable for older passengers. But not in the Honda Pilot.

The SUV has done well to provide a decent amount of space in the 3rd row to suit passengers of all ages. There is plenty of legroom here, so you won’t feel cramped. This provides a better experience for long rides and trips.

And another great fact to note is that gymnastics are not necessary for accessing the 3rd row. The second-row seats can slide and tilt forward with just a button press opening up a fairly wide path.

If you need to haul cargo instead of people, you can fold the back seats easily to create more cargo space. There are around 16 cubic spaces of the room towards the back of the 3rd row. And when you fold the backseats, the cargo space capacity burgeons to 47.

Want even more space? No problem. Simply fold the second row as well. The cargo room will expand to around 83 cubic feet. The numbers are pretty good, especially when compared with competitor models.

Honda Pilot Tech

The Honda Pilot is equipped with a fair amount of technology. The standout feature is the Honda Sensing driver-assist technology. Thankfully, driver-assist features are standard for all pilot range trims. So you can go for any trim level without compromising safety.

Hence, the Black edition and the Elite edition of the Honda Pilot have the same driver-assist features. You can take heart that you won’t lose any safety feature if you choose one trim over the other.

The safety suite includes the full gamut of basic features that drivers would like to have such as

Adaptive cruise coupled with lane centering

Road-departure mitigation

Lane-keeping assist

Automatic emergency braking

These driver-assist features can mitigate the risk and severity of accidents.

Adaptive cruise control with lane-centering provides safety and a better driving experience. Less driver input is required to keep the SUV in the middle of the lane. Hence, the driver can relax and experience less fatigue, especially during long trips.

Another notable fact is that Honda has implemented this technology quite well. This driver-assist has a quick response, and it works fluidly. This makes for a nice ride.

Infotainment

The infotainment system has a vibrant, colorful display. Details on the 8-inch touchscreen are crisp and sharp. Here, you will find large icons that you can tap easily. You can also rearrange these icons if you so desire. Hence, there is lots of flexibility. The system is fairly responsive. It may not be the best infotainment system, but it does its job quite nicely.

It would have been better if a knob for certain functions like tuning. This feature is handy since it allows drivers to set the volume without looking down when the SUV is on the move.

Sirius XM radio and HD are part of the Black edition. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are also included. Using the built-in Wi-Fi hotspot and wireless phone charging, you can operate your smart gadgets.

Other standard features of the Honda Pilot include the immense center console and that start button with which you can activate the engine simply by pressing it once.

Climate control allows for three temperature zones. This is very convenient for large families where there could be disagreements over the interior temperature. Thanks to the 3-zone climate control, passengers can fine-tune the temperature according to their preferences.

The steering wheel is bound in leather, and it works smoothly. The front seats are ventilated and heated.

Another thoughtful and very useful feature is the 10.2-inch screen at the back and Blu-Ray technology that will keep the kids quiet on long road trips.

https://youtu.be/eggE-WjR_IcVideo can’t be loaded because JavaScript is disabled: 2021 Honda Pilot Tips and Tricks (https://youtu.be/eggE-WjR_Ic)

VTEC Performance

Honda is well-known for its durable and efficient engines. The official company name has the word ‘motor’ for a pretty good reason. The powertrain and the engine of the Honda Pilot do not disappoint. In fact, they work admirably well.

The family-friendly SUV has a V6 3.5-liter engine standard to all trim levels. Hence, you will find the same engine in both the Black edition and the Elite edition.

The fuel injection and variable valve timing mechanisms allow for decent fuel efficiency and power. The engine cranks out 260 pound-feet in torque and 280 horsepower compared well with the competition.

Engine mounts and noise cancellations are designed to reduce unwanted noise and alleviate vibrations. This makes for a smoother ride. These technologies also reduce vibration and sound when less than six cylinders are firing in the engine.

Honda Pilot Transmission

Two transmission systems are available for the Honda Pilot range. Base trims like the EX and LX are equipped with a 6-speed automatic. But the Black edition and the elite both boast a super-smooth 9-speed transmission. It might feel a tad bit slow, but it’s very fluid.

Bottom Line

The Honda Pilot Black edition and the Honda Pilot Elite share more or less the same features. Perhaps the only major difference is that the Black edition emphasizes a black hue. So if you are enamored with black vehicles, you may want to go for the Black edition.

As exciting as the snow weather looks, it is known to be a blessing in disguise. Snow in winter is agitating, and many people tend to cancel their plans due to the piled-up white sheet of snow on the driveway.

It is challenging to drive and commute in this weather, but if you’re a lucky owner of a Jeep Wrangler, your vehicle has got you covered.

Jeep Wrangler is a beast when it comes to its powerful capabilities; this versatile vehicle tends to not only run smoothly on rocky landscapes but is also capable of plowing bulk of snow. It can help you remove the thick blanket of snow and clear the path of your driveway down the road.

For blizzard-like conditions, this car works as a savior. However, the secret to this quality is one, add a good-quality snowplow in front of your Wrangler.

2. MotoAlliance Denali Snow Plow

Made with 11-gauge steel, the MotoAlliance Denali Snow Plow UTV was built to work in callous weather conditions to push vast amounts of snow. The 72-inch plow is powerful and compatible with UTVs and SxS. This professional-quality plow offers excellent construction design and effectively plows vast snow blankets in harsh conditions.

This heavy-duty snowplow is durable and reliable for quickly plowing the most extensive snowdrifts. Due to its comprehensible design, angling the snow is easier. It also features an attack angle of 65-degree that provides superior plowing and clears the driveway swiftly. However, a winch is required for the plow’s height adjustment, and not all of its components are made of solid steel.

A particular feature of this product that we liked is that the plow can remain on the vehicle all year round without any problem. It has four 7-gauge ribs that perfectly first the Jeep’s frame and cover the full height of the attached blade, with three additional horizontal stabilizers offering support to the deepest point of the snowplow’s blade. Other accessories in the package include a straight blade, mounting plate, push tubes, squid feet, and installation equipment.

Verdict:

The MotoAlliance Denali UTV is reliable and durable for your Jeep Wrangler. It is quick, easy-to-use, and efficient to collect heaps of snow in no time. Its exceptional qualities make it worth the money, and it can prove to be the best snow plow for Jeep Wrangler.

3. Meyer 26500 Plow

The Meyer 26500 is designed for urgent and lighter snowplowing. This plow is known for its high-quality construction; it is straight and made of stainless steel, corrosion, and damage-resistant. Its power angle hydraulic features cut and remove snow swiftly and provide quick clearing of driveways. However, it can not perform heavy-duty tasks and is built to cater to the needs of homeowners and small snowplowing tasks.

Dimensionally, it is 90-inches in width and 22-inches in height, due to which it can collect larger piles of snow in one go. The plow size is quite prominent on the Jeep Wrangler but does not make the vehicle unattractive as its yellow and black exterior makes the appearance fascinating. It’s a good fit for your vehicle and can easily add a Class 3 (2-inches) front receiver hitch system. The plow can be managed with a wireless remote control fully automated for a swift operation that allows you to control the plow conveniently while sitting in the ease of your car.

We liked this product because it comes pre-assembled and installs easily; you only have to mount the plow through a wire harness. It uses the quick link mounting system to make attaching and detaching in minutes without any tools or professional assistance required. The caster wheels make the stowing process and transportation more accessible. Its excellent lift and angle tend to clear long driveways efficiently and quickly. The only drawback is that the 2-inch receiver hitch system must be purchased separately and does not come with the package.

With various models available in the market, finding the best snow plow for Jeep Wrangler can be challenging. But worry not; our research work and comparison between different snowplows will help you pick your best fit.

https://youtu.be/JtpqBGCiEr8Video can’t be loaded because JavaScript is disabled: Is a Jeep Wrangler good for snow plowing !!?? (https://youtu.be/JtpqBGCiEr8)

Here’s a guide on what you should consider before investing in a good-quality snow plow and a list of the 3 best snow plows for Jeep Wrangler according to our research:

While it can be challenging to find the best fit in the market, you first need to keep in mind that Jeep Wrangler is a mighty vehicle and needs top-notch equipment to match the car’s quality. To choose the best snowplow, you need to consider the following factors:

Weight of the Plow

The average weight is around 75 to 105 pounds, which is a lot for the vehicle to endure. Ensure to choose a snowplow that does not weigh more than the car. Heavy plow can harm the suspension and put extra stress on the front axle, affecting brake efficiency. The weight also depends on the material of the snowplow, so make your choice wisely.

Construction Quality and Material

It is essential to choose a helpful material in the long run that does not affect your Jeep’s performance. Metal snowplows are immensely powerful, inevitably heavier, but durable for the vehicle. Heavy snowplows significantly impact the car and reduce braking power as it requires specific torque to plow the heavy snow.

On the contrary, plastic is lighter cheaper, but not durable enough. An excellent option to choose would be solid stainless steel as it is strong, durable, and affordable compared to others. When selecting the best snowplow for a Jeep Wrangler, the material is vital; try finding a balance between weight and durability.

Type of Blade

The snowplow blade comes in two types, a straight and V-shaped blade. Although both tend to have similar features, a straight blade is typically less expensive and has a limited tendency to move only in one position, whereas a V-shaped blade is able to move in different directions and is more efficient in removing the snow.

Size of the Plow

The power of the Jeep’s engine is limited, so be careful when choosing the size of the plow. Almost all Jeep Wranglers’ models have a width of about 72 to 74 inches. Keep in mind that your snowplow should be at least this wide.

You don’t need a massive snowplow as it only adds excessive weight to your Jeep. However, the outside edge of tires has a risk of hitting the debris, and so, a snowplow of around 78 to 84 inches would be wide enough to cover the tires and strong enough to give plowing power without any risk.

Ease of Installation

Another important factor to consider when looking for the best snow plow for Jeep Wrangler is the plow’s ease of attachment and detachment. Look for a plow that installs and removes with ease. It can be a problem if you buy a difficult plow to attach and detach, especially if you fit it all yourself. Keep an estimate of how time-consuming and difficult it can be to attach and detach a plow and then pick the best choice.

Final Thoughts

Winter weather is hard to deal with, especially when snow leaps. Driving becomes risky, and traveling is difficult to manage but not if you are lucky enough to own a Jeep Wrangler. You have the privilege to install a snowplow at the head of your vehicle and are ready to roll in the snow.

If you are an owner of a Jeep Wrangler and confused about picking the best plow for your car, worry not; we have got you sorted. According to our in-depth research and comparison among several products, we have mentioned the details of 3 snowplows that we think are best for a Jeep Wrangler.

Honda Pilot EX-L vs. Touring – That is a fair comparison if you decide which Honda Pilot trim to buy.

The question is: which one is better for you? By judging their key differences and overall features, you can decide which trim suits you best.

Honda EX-L vs Touring Overall Comparison

The Honda Pilot is capable of delivering impressive performance. This coupled with its cavernous cabin space, makes this vehicle ideal for those who seek comfort, space, and performance.

The Honda Pilot has a 3rd row, but that’s not all. The good news is that you can select 3rd-row seating options that best fit your requirements.

The Honda Pilot EX-L vs. Touring comparison that follows will show you which trim is better for you.

https://youtu.be/UxBO2WseawoVideo can’t be loaded because JavaScript is disabled: 2018 Honda Pilot: FULL REVIEW | Elite, Touring, EX-L, EX & LX (https://youtu.be/UxBO2Wseawo)

Price Comparison

Perhaps the first thing you would like to know is the price.

The Honda Pilot EX-L 9-speed automatic transmission with 2WD has a starting price of just under $38,700. The Pilot Touring 9-speed automatic transmission with 2WD has a starting price just below $43,300.

As you can see, the Touring trim costs more than the EX-L.

If you want the all-wheel-drive capability for turning your Honda Pilot into an SUV that can conquer all sorts of terrain, you can upgrade both of these trims to 4 wheel drive. Of course, the price tag will rise.

Seating EX-L vs Touring

Extra seating and big cabin space are key factors for selecting the Honda Pilot.

8 passenger seating is standard to both the Touring and EX-L. However, you can go for a 7-seat configuration if that is better for you and your family with the Touring.

Cabin Features

The Honda Pilot Touring and EX-L both have their own interior features for infotainment and comfort. With these features, you can modify cabin configurations to suit your preferences. They also allow mobile integration as well as entertainment.

Here are cabin features for both these trims.

Honda Pilot Touring Cabin Features

2nd row HDMI Interface

CabinTalk In-Car PA System

Multi-zone audio

HondaLink Subscription

Wi-Fi Hotspot

Audio system equipped with 10 speakers and subwoofer

2-inch screen with high resolution for rear entertainment

Satellite Navigation coupled with voice recognition

Power tailgate (Hands-Free)

Honda Pilot EX-L Cabin Features

Power Tailgate

Audio system equipped with 7 speakers plus subwoofer

Steering wheel wrapped in leather

Automatic dimming for rearview mirror

Sunshades

Homelink remote system

Tri-zone climate control

In addition, the Pilot EX-L is equipped with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, driver seat memory, 2nd-row sunshades, Honda Sensing technology for safety, leather upholstery, and heated front seats. These features are all standard to the Touring, which also has high-resolution screen rear entertainment, heated seats for the 2nd row, a wireless phone charger, and a better sound system.

Driving Performance

Both of these Honda Pilot trims have basically the same driving performance. These models are equipped with 280 horsepower V6 engines coupled with 9-speed auto transmission.

Both trims are equipped with active noise cancellation, multiple driving modes, hill start assist, intelligent traction management, eco assist, paddle shifters, shift-by-wire, and a host of other technologies that you will find invaluable.

The V6 engine of the Honda Pilot boasts lots of power and an impressive sound. The 9-speed auto transmission is reliable and smooth.

The Honda Pilot is definitely not the most cumbersome 3-row crossover that you can drive. However, you can feel its heft while cornering. And it is indeed big in size – that’s why it has so much cabin room.

20-inch wheels are available on higher trims. Although they impact ride comfort somewhat, they do improve the appearance of this vehicle.

Another good thing to note is that the vehicle feels agile and rides smoothly even when packed full of passengers and cargo. Body control is fairly decent, and you will note nice traction on the road.

The steering wheels require relatively less force to turn. Hence, you can maneuver the vehicle quite comfortably at low speeds. On the highway, handling the steering wheel feels rather effortless. This makes for pretty good driving comfort along with the high driving position.

Appearance EX-L vs Touring

Appearance-wise there are subtle differences between the two. However, they can have a strong impact on functionality.

The EX-L is equipped with an acoustic glass windshield, body-colored door handles, remote entry (programmable), powered liftgate, and auto on-off technology integrated into LED headlights.

In the Touring, you will find acoustic glass for windshield plus side windows, chrome-colored door handles, and a powered liftgate (hands-free).

Honda Pilot Overview

The Honda Pilot is the solution for customers who want lots of cabin space but are not keen on buying a minivan. The 3-row crossover may not be as versatile as the Honda Odyssey. However, it does share key features like the V-6 powertrain and other driving capabilities.

The Pilot does not have sliding doors, nor does not it have a lot of space in the 3rd row. However, it does compensate with certain highly attractive features like 5,000 pounds towing capability*, all-wheel drive (available as an upgrade), and a higher position for the driver.

* For 5,000-pound towing capability, you will have to upgrade from 2WD to 4WD for around $2,000. Without this upgrade, towing capacity is 3,500 pounds.

The cabin space is sufficiently comfortable and roomy; the external appearance is fair enough. But it is not as good as the Hyundai Palisade and the Kia Telluride.

Although the Pilot may not have many fancy features and a flashy appearance, it does feel nice to drive, plus it’s way better than a minivan.

Fuel Economy EX-L vs Touring

The fuel economy of the Honda Pilot is quite good for its category. The vehicle has good mileage for its size and weight. It scores quite well in EPA tests.

The 2WD model can reach a mileage of 20 mpg in urban settings. Mileage goes up 27 mpg on highways.

The 4WD model shaves off one mpg in EPA testing. Hence, the 4-wheel drive mileage for cities is 19 mpg, while it is 26 mpg for highways.

Value for Money

The Honda Pilot is somewhat pricier compared to its rivals. However, it does offer better cabin space, quality feel, and comfort compared to other models in its category. So the price should not be too much of an issue, for you are getting pretty nice value for money.

Although it is a non-luxury vehicle, it has a fairly good blend of assembly and materials.

The matte finish of secondary controls, glossy trim, and the dashboard’s soft-touch plastic material all provide comfort and are attractive in terms of appearance.

Performance EX-L vs Touring

The Honda Pilot turns out to be a surprisingly capable vehicle in terms of performance concerning its size.

Sprinting from 0-60 miles per hour takes 7 seconds. This is a little faster than most other vehicles in its category.

Brakes feel quite consistent. Using them for everyday driving is pretty straightforward. Braking is likewise efficient.

The braking distance (from 60 miles per hour) is 129 feet, which is decent enough for its class.

Driving around twisting tracks is not an issue. The Honda Pilot can handle twisty roads with finesse. Hence, it drives more nimbly than many other rivals in its category.

The steering is very accurate and quite smooth.

The all-wheel-drive powertrain is good enough for slippery roads. However, the Honda Pilot does not have enough ground clearance or off-road technology like hill descent control. Hence, it is not ideal for off-road driving.

Storage Space

If you are certain that you will be carrying lots of things, you may want to consider the Honda Pilot since it has plenty of cargo space. Behind the 3rd row, there are 16.5 cubic feet of space which are quite solid.

When the 3rd and 2nd rows are folded, then the space extends to 83 cubic feet. So if you need to buy an entire month’s supply of groceries, then you are likely to find that the Honda Pilot offers enough space.

Added to that, big door pockets are useful for storing smaller stuff. The center console also has storage space to safely keep smaller items.

You can upgrade the 3,500 pounds towing capacity to 5,000 with the all-wheel-drive upgrade, which is competitive with its class.

Driving Comfort

Whether you are cruising about in the city or traveling on highways, you will find that the Honda Pilot drives fairly smoothly. Hence, the ride quality is decent and comfortable.

Body movements are kept well under control. The Honda Pilot absorbs small bumps so that you barely feel them.

The lower and back parts of front seats offer plenty of support and thus a high level of comfort, especially for long trips.

Second-row seats are also quite cozy. You can slide them and recline them according to your preferences.

The powerful V6 sound becomes noticeable when you rev up the engine. The cabin keeps out most of the sound, which is a plus point. Hence, you won’t be distracted by wind or tire noise while driving.

Climate control works quite well. Hence, everyone inside can feel comfortable.

Drivers can also adjust the seat position to suit their personal preferences. The fairly high driver seat gives the driver a great view of the road.

Honda Pilot Warranty

The basic warranty stands at 36,000 miles/3 years. The powertrain warranty coverage is 5-years/ 60,000 miles – This is average for its category.

Other Features to Consider

Honda Pilot is the Japanese automaker’s biggest and best 3-row crossover. One nice feature to note is that there is enough room in the backseat to accommodate adults. This is important since some vehicles in this category have enough space in the backroom for kids only.

There is also a huge amount of cargo space at the back. You can fold down the 3rd row if you want to increase cargo space. If you desire even more space, you can easily pull down the second row as well. This way, you will have enough space for outdoor trips and camping.

The engine is powerful and fuel-efficient. The ride comfort and seating quality are likewise impressive.

But you should also know that the Kia Telluride and the Hyundai Palisade offer greater cabin refinement and more space.

The Mazda CX-9 could be another alternative that you might want to consider. The size of this vehicle is smaller, no doubt. However, it is a more agile vehicle that can deliver a great driving experience.

That being said, the Honda Pilot is a decent choice for 3-row family-friendly crossover.

Bottom Line

The Honda Pilot EX-L vs. Touring comparison above can give you an idea of which trim level will suit your wants and budget. Before you decide, go through the above guide for a better purchase!

For optimum performance, durability, and quality, you should consider the following when looking to purchase new brake pads for your Jeep Wrangler.

Materials

Materials used must have exceptional resistance to friction, wear, and high temperatures.

Brand

Some of the most reliable names in the industry include Akebono, Bosch, and Power Stop.

Rotors

Rotors should be constructed from abrasion-resistant materials that can withstand elevated temperatures.

Shims

They might look rather fragile. However, shims play a key role in brake performance. They reduce vibration and noise for better driving comfort.

Semi-Metallic Brake Pads

You can give higher preference and top priority to semi-metallic brake pads since they have several advantages. Since metals are excellent heat conductors, semi-metallic brake pads can dissipate heat quickly and thus allow the brake pad to cool down faster.

Also, they undergo less compression when subjected to high forces. Therefore, you have to apply less pressure on the brake pedal to activate brakes. Hence, semi-metallic brakes are highly responsive.

Durability

Since brake pads have to endure the toughest operating conditions, they must be sturdy, robust, and durable.

Bottom Line

You can choose any of the best Jeep Wrangler brake pads shown above to upgrade your vehicle.

Whether you embark on an off-road adventure or towing boats/trailers, you can’t go wrong with these brakes.

Finding the perfect off-roader can be challenging, especially for enthusiasts who want a no-frills vehicle that doesn’t have any assist. If you’re an off-road purist who wants to buy the best off-roader, then the decision comes down to the CJ5 vs. CJ7.

The CJ5 and CJ7 are both iconic Jeep models that have been around for a long time. They are known for their ability to handle the roughest off-road terrain and have proven to be very reliable Jeeps. However, there are some key differences between the CJ5 and CJ7 that you should know before making your decision.

In this article, we’ll dive into all the differences between the two models to help you decide which one is right for you.

What Are the Main Differences Between the CJ5 and CJ7?

The two main differences between the CJ5 and CJ7 are the size of the body and drivetrain. The CJ7 is longer with an extended wheelhouse to accommodate its automatic transmission, while the CJ5 is wider and only available in 3-speed manual transmission. The shorter CJ5 has very little leg room inside the vehicle, while the longer CJ7 offers more space and can accommodate taller people.

How to tell the difference">Jeep CJ5 or CJ7? How to tell the difference (https://youtu.be/t5ygqcS8J-4)

Below I’ll go over more specific details on the body, transmission, and engine of each model.

Comparison of the CJ5 vs. CJ7

In 1983, the CJ met its demise at the hands of the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety due to its tendency to flip over in daily driving. However, the CJ5 and CJ7 both have a cult following for enthusiasts who willingly pay exorbitant prices to get their hands on one of these classic Jeeps.

Here are the differences between the CJ5 and CJ7.

Body

The CJ7 is longer than the CJ5 due to its longer wheelbase; however, the CJ5 is wider. Being shorter, the CJ5 also has lesser legroom for the occupants of the car and is notoriously uncomfortable for tall people.

Door cutouts on both vehicles are also different, with a U-shaped one on the CJ7 and an S-shaped one on the CJ5. Arguably, the CJ5 is significantly more challenging to enter or exit due to its smaller doors.

A soft-top option is also available for the CJ7, while the CJ5 is open-to-air.

Head-to-Head Comparison

While the technical specs might seem underwhelming by modern standards, the CJ5 and CJ7 have a cult following for their off-road capabilities. Which one is the right one for you? Let us take the off-road track: CJ5 vs. CJ7!

CJ5

With a curb weight of 2,665 pounds, the CJ5 comes with a naturally aspirated V6 with a bhp rating of 98 at 3,200 RPM and packs 192 lb. ft torque at the same engine speed. The 3-speed manual gearbox is mated to a 4WD drivetrain for off-road bliss.

CJ7

Weighing in at a curb weight of 2,707 pounds and the V8 engine delivers around 28 more bhp than the CJ5. With a sturdier chassis for improved handling, the CJ7 is the more capable vehicle on paper.

Real-World Performance

The CJ7 has a better power to weight ratio as compared to the CJ5; however, this does not necessarily mean that either vehicle is better than the other. For on-road driving, especially on the highway, the CJ5 was labeled as a death trap during its days of production.

Although the fact is that the CJ5 does flip over during even basic maneuvers, owners of the vehicle defend it saying that they drive it carefully. Similarly, many owners spend thousands of dollars on custom modifications to make their CJ5 unique.

In terms of drivability, the CJ7 has more power as compared to the CJ5; however, it is nowhere close to the average 180 bhp rating on modern cars. If you can deal with sluggish acceleration, the CJ7 might actually make for the ideal off-roading vehicle for you.

Going Off-Road

Off-road performance is what Jeeps are known for, and the CJ5 and CJ7 are no exception. If you plan to hit tight corners while off-roading in the woods, then the CJ5’s shorter wheelbase comes in handy. However, for anything more challenging, the CJ7 takes the lead.

With greater torque comes quicker power delivery to the wheels, and the more powerful CJ7 engine is the better option in this case, but if you opt for a base model engine configuration, it may be different.

The CJ7 is known for its incredible 4×4 powertrain that holds up even today. The CJ5, however, might topple over during a steep hill climb or rock crawl.

Which One Should You Buy?

The choice between the CJ5 and CJ7 is complicated. While the CJ5 offers a unique design that makes it stand out from the crowd, the CJ7 is more usable in modern life while also providing the raw 4×4 experience that you want.

We strongly recommend buying a CJ7 if you plan to use the car for things other than off-roading because it won’t flip over. While the CJ5 is an equally capable off-roader, it is a lot more uncomfortable due to the lesser legroom and the shorter wheelbase, making for a bumpy ride.

The CJ5 vs. CJ7 debate has and will go on for years to come. While there is no clear winner off the road, the CJ5’s tendency to flip over can lead to injuries and fatalities, so we do not recommend buying it.

Regardless of whichever one you buy, try to get a more recent model since they have better brakes, transmission options and offer more powerful engines.

A History of the CJ Series

The CJ series Jeeps still remain as some of the most iconic vintage off-roaders to exist in the American market. A fun fact about the CJ’s name is that it stands for “Civilian Jeep,” which is a reminder that the ancestors of these vehicles served in World War II.

In 1944, Willys released the first CJ and made 7 iterations of the vehicle till its discontinuation in 1986. The Jeep Wrangler took the CJ’s place in 1987, and to this day, it keeps the CJ’s heritage as a solid off-roader.

Different Models of the CJ Series

There were many models of the CJ that were available to the general public. Offered in a range of engine configurations, the CJ remains memorable for having decades-long production of certain vehicle models. While the off-roading capabilities evolved over the years, the manufacturers did few cosmetic overhauls. The most significant change to the CJ was when it was sold as a truck towards the end of its production. We’ll take a look at the different CJ models to understand their rich heritage.

The CJ1 was built by Willys in 1944 and remains the most mysterious one in the lineup. With barely any documentation for it available, the CJ1 was a modified version of the military MB that had a few extra features, such as a tailgate and a canvas roof.

CJ2

Despite being marketed as a civilian vehicle, the CJ2 was not available for purchase as they were used solely for testing purposes. The CJ2 was a stripped-down version of the MB and brought cosmetic changes, as well as functional changes under the hood.

CJ2A

In 1945, the first real Civilian Jeep was available for sale based on the CJ2. Not only did the CJ2A look different, but it brought a significantly better transmission and added options such as rear seats, a cabin mirror, upgraded windshield wipers, two taillights, side steps, and some off-road amenities.

While the CJ2A was made primarily for farm use, the color options left a lot to be desired by modern standards.

CJ3A

Launched in 1949, the CJ3A featured improvements such as an air vent, a windshield wiper, and a better suspension to load it up for transporting farming produce.

CJ4

There was one CJ4 produced in 1951 that changed the design to a more curved one and used a different engine from its predecessors. However, the vehicle was rejected and never mass-produced. While this was a design that did come back later, it was too ahead of its time since cars were fairly boxy.

CJ3B

Kaiser acquired Willys and introduced the CJ3 in 1953, and they sold the design to other auto manufacturers, allowing them to mass-produce their own version of the vehicle.

Mitsubishi Jeep

Mitsubishi took the CJ3’s design and sold it from 1953 to 1998 with different trim levels. The Mitsubishi Jeep was available in diesel and gas configurations and short and long-wheelbase variants to appeal to a broader audience. This variant went out of production after almost 45 years due to its poor emissions rating.

CJ5

During 1964, the CJ5 hit the market and remained in production for three decades. Across all 3 models of the CJ5, the vehicle earned a reputation of being indestructible. American Motors bought Kaiser in 1970 and equipped the CJ5 with their in-house engines and a new limited-slip differential.

CJ6

The CJ6 was a capable vehicle released in 1955 and was used by the U.S. Forest Service due to its off-road capability.

CJ7

The 1976 CJ7 was the last SUV CJ. While it was succeeded by the CJ8, CJ10, and the CJ10A, all its descendants were trucks.
